Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. Eastern on Paramount Network, “Yellowstone” returns for its fifth season. The two-hour special picks up months after the shocking revelations and explosive events at the end of the season finale of the previous year, when Beth used Jamie as leverage while another Dutton family member declared his candidacy for governor.
John Dutton, head of the family, is played once more by Kevin Costner. The programme focuses on the Dutton family’s ongoing exploits, the disputes at their Montana cattle ranch, and the problems that are encroaching on their borders.
The family finds out that power has a cost as the new season begins. See what lengths the Duttons will go to in order to pay that cost.

What To Expect From Season 5 Of The Yellowstone?
John Dutton III started his bid for governor as Season 4 came to a close. The fifth season opens with the ranch owner, played by Kevin Costner, taking the oath of office to become the new governor of Montana.
John will be operating in politics according to his own set of rules, according to early footage from the new episodes. In the meantime, Beth is in control of Jamie and has information about him.
At the conclusion of Season 4, Beth coerced Jamie into killing his biological father Garrett, and she captured images of Jamie burying the body.
Kayce and Monica are expecting their second child, and it appears that the baby will be arriving soon despite Monica having seen the end of their relationship in a vision during a tribal initiation.
Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 1 Recap
John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who is on the verge of winning the election for governor when the fifth season of Yellowstone begins, had announced his candidacy months earlier.
John is acting out of character by hiding in the bathroom rather than celebrating his victory because he wants to spend one last moment escaping the spotlight before he enters the public eye for the next four years.
Though it isn’t stated, it seems pretty obvious that John’s daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly) managed his campaign, which is very appropriate given that she is now firmly established as her father’s right-hand woman.
It appears Jamie (Wes Bentley) has been added to John’s team after experiencing political betrayal in the final moments of season four, and he has done a good job in that capacity. He offers to introduce John, his father, as he delivers his victory speech, perhaps just to let everyone know that he is still alive.
John mentions to the crowd during his speech that Montana is viewed as “Plaything for the wealthy. A novelty from New York and a toy from California. not anymore.” In an effort to defend the land and his ranch in any way he can, he runs a successful preservation campaign that appears to be a sign of things to come this season.
Jamie and Beth exchange a long, soulless look as if to serve as a constant reminder to viewers of the divisions within the Dutton family. Because Beth “owns” him, it’s abundantly clear throughout the episode that Jamie won’t have an easy ride this year. While keeping an eye on the action from his casino, Chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) muses over how this will affect his tribe.
Additionally observing from the Market Equities corporate office, Caroline Warner (Jacki Weaver) is extremely disappointed in the election outcome. Before requesting a “Sarah Atwood,” who will later emerge as a formidable opponent this season, she does notice an unhappy Jamie on television.
Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 2 Recap
Yellowstone’s fifth season’s first major trauma involves a Dutton we never met. “Stay there!” she growls. “Call an ambulance!”. Kayce comforts Monica at their farmhouse before taking Tate to school, and the boy worries about his mom.
“You lost a brother,” his dad says. She lost more.” He recalls the images from last season, when he underwent Monica’s tribe’s warrior initiation ceremony in a haze of fasting and mental anguish.
The troubled boy Beth took in, who sometimes feels like her de facto son with Rip- Beth will never have children of her own, having been sterilised years ago on the Indian reservation by Jamie after a pregnancy neither she nor Rip were prepared for- has clearly been “eating the fertiliser,” as John put it. ц ц Carter also cleans stalls and learns equestrian at the ranch.
John grumbles in his Helena office about gubernatorial harshness. “If you don’t play the game, the game plays you,” Lynelle says, but John is tired of the daily schedule and meetings that might have been emails or conversations.
He quickly fires a political appointment, hires Beth as his chief of staff, and continues to fume over the Paradise Valley project. ʼ “Canceling?” “Jamie” “They take your ranch.” Beth believes an executive order and innovative zoning can halt Market Equity’s deal. ц “They’re raping our family’s land right now.
Jamie and Beth play hardball. “Excellent. I imprison you.” Beth! But won’t saying this come back to harm her? In Market Equities, Caroline has unleashed her latest corporate killer, Sarah Atwood, from the coast (Dawn Olivieri).
“I love it when she becomes extremely mad,” she adds of Caroline, “because means I’m going to make a lot of money.” Atwood may eat Jamie for breakfast, but she’ll probably go after Beth. Rip orders bunkhouse guys Ryan and Colby (Denim Richards) to find and kill wolves that killed a steer.
However, wolves with radio tracking collars affixed by Yellowstone National Park game wardens cannot be shot. Rip sends the collars down a river on logs. ʼ A governor-owned property killing protected species? This could get dicey.
“These wolves have Facebook pages!” Ryan shouts. As a flashback shows, Rip and ranch hand Rowdy (Kai Caster) destroyed the equipment of some doofy construction people destroying the area with chemicals. ʼ Hot tax revenue. and ʼ John tells her it would be whole. That matters more than a deed name.
Yellowstone Season 4 Recap
If you haven’t seen “Yellowstone,” it follows the spectacular Dutton Family, led by John Dutton (Kevin Costner). They possess a large ranch in Montana that is continually threatened by the government, unscrupulous land developers, and local indigenous people (who wish to build a new casino nearby).
In the first season, John’s eldest son Lee (Dave Annable) is killed, prompting the family to gather at the ranch, including youngest son Kayce (Luke Grimes), cutthroat daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly), and lawyerly middle son Jamie (Wes Bentley).
Rip (Cole Hauser), a fan favourite for his strong attitude and remorseless approach to the ranch’s threats, leads the ranch’s colourful cast. As we near the beginning of Season 5, the show is going through its biggest shakeup yet. Montana’s governor is Costner’s John Dutton.
However, his new civil servant position makes him a bigger target. He may be able to pass broad legislation to keep developers off his land, but he has also made himself more vulnerable (especially given John Dutton’s many skeletons).
Rip and Beth appear content. This is unsustainable. The premiere suggests huge things for “Yellowstone” and the Dutton family. “Yellowstone” always needs more.
